What is Big Data?

'Big data is the collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using standard databases and data processing tools/techniques.  It may include (in a law firm) hours posted, cost write-offs, fees billed, collections, (in the rest of the world), google search history, ez-pass records, credit card transactions .. and anything else that is recorded electronically.
